Cleanings and Exams

By offering thorough cleanings and examinations, we can do so much to protect the health of our patients. It is our goal to work hand in hand with our patients to provide excellent dental care. Achieving this goal starts with cleanings and examinations.

Here’s the procedure to expect when you visit us for a cleaning and exam:

  • As soon as your visit starts, we will do an examination of your face, lips, teeth, gums, and inside of your mouth for any signs of disease or other problems. We may not mention it, but this examination is being done.
  • Next, we’ll start cleaning away accumulated tartar. Tartar is the result of plaque hardening on your teeth. If it’s not removed, it will break down your enamel. 
  • We’ll then polish away light stains and make your teeth beautifully shiny.
  • Rinsing and flossing will complete the cleaning.
  • We may also apply sealants or fluoride treatments to your teeth to reduce the risk of cavities.
