For our young patients and anyone prone to getting cavities, we suggest the use of sealants and fluoride treatments to reduce the risk of decay. Sealants are plastic-like coatings that are applied to the crevices of teeth to prevent cavities from starting there. After all, this is where the majority of cavities are found.
Fluoride is a mineral that hardens tooth enamel. With fluoride treatments, teeth become more resistant to decay.
Scientific studies have found that these treatments result in fewer cavities. This is an important benefit, especially for our young patients.
